Ebontu teamed up with Pink Book weddings and a select few wedding professionals in Gauteng to put together this amazing, modern South African wedding inspirational styled shoot. Nestled in the bush outside of Muldersdrift, the venue for the shoot, 26⁰ South Hotel, offered a completely unique atmosphere for our shoot. The distinctive blend of urban Jozi culture and the serenity of the African bush was perfectly suited to the theme of our photoshoot.
8 Modern African Wedding Dresses
We were fortunate to have 8 breathtaking African wedding dresses for this shoot, each one a masterpiece in its own right. The modern dress range from Shifting Sands African Couture combined various elements from traditional cultures with high fashion elements, straight from the runway. The glamorous gowns were highlighted by intricate beaded jewellery, accessories, headwear and edgy makeup – transforming our models into African queens, styled to perfection!
Makeup for the day was done by Angie Makeup, who pulled on the vibrant colours and different textured of the decor and dresses for inspiration. The first model was accentuated with rich golds and bold lips in order to reflect the expressive garments and a multi-coloured backdrop of flowers. The second model had a more dark and dramatic look to mirror the richness of all the elements of the setting.
Modern & Traditional Wedding Decor Inspiration
Our events coordinator for the day, Zenobia of Blue Olive Events, was inspired to modernize the traditional African wedding by incorporating modern décor elements in the vases, candle holders and dinner setting. Oopsie Daisy Flowers and Decor incorporated traditional South African elements in the form of the wooden sculptures, animal figures and potjies for the decor. The brightly coloured beaded animal heads on the wall of the venue fit in perfectly with our theme. The more modern twist was added by featuring the contemporary art, deco furniture and geometric shapes.
All and all, the hard work of all of the talented service providers paid off – giving us these stunning, inspirational and memorable images. Alexander Smith Photography and JPB Media captured the vibrant elements of our African culture in this bold and beautiful styled shoot. We hope to inspire you to embrace our beautiful continent, honour our traditions and celebrate your wedding in a riot of colours!
